Update!

have talked to a few people and made some choices

looking seriously at the following:

Pioneer Premier DEH-P690UB

Diamond Audio S600S 6.5" Components Hex Series

US Amps XT1600.2

Fi Q 12"

Sundown SAZ-1500d

ok, after around a month of planning I've started to order equipment

The car (you guessed it) is a 92' Lexus SC300

but there are a few problems I'm facing, first the center console and how the f I can fit an aftermarket deck, I've looked all over for a mounting kit but so far no luck

the stock speakers are a whooping 4", I plan on making a bigger enclosure, I have taken off the door panel to take a look and there is plenty of room, even better the window comes no where close

the imaging in the Lexus is already pretty good, the stock tweeter is 1" and will perfectly fit the tweets that are coming with my Diamond Audio hex series, I took off the mesh grille and here they are

last but certainly not least comes the trunk

as you can see, there is a stock 12cd changer in the trunk. The trunk's dimensions are 50"W x 18"H x 23"L

I've been looking at both 12" Fi Q or an Si Mag - but open to any suggestions..... I've already purchased a Sundown-saz1500d which is rated at 1500w @ 1ohm, so make choices accordingly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

'92?

Go to your local Lexus dealership, they can order oem dash kits, I checked em out, for me it was $239 ****in dollars and they dont make kits for mine or any other lexus that has a navi, so i am screwed. I wouldnt pay 240 either way though, best bet get someone with the skills necessary to build you an adaptor for a hu, but it looks as if you could just yank out your oem radio and cram a hu in there.

yeah, i contacted someone off craigslist to fabricate a backing plate for a new headunit, he told me it wouldn't look perfectly fit and rounded like the rest of the console but hey whatever //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Will 1 12 be enough bass for you? IDK if some or all lexus' have the gas tank in front of the trunk. Makes it a lil more difficult for bass to enter the cabin.

A Toyota kit with minor mods should fit perfectly....also a double din will work You'll have to unplug the Volume knob to the side ...maybe replace it with some other knob off of a processor...or remote bass knob....for an amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I wouldn't go with the 6900 unless you need the USB or are on a budget. I'm not saying it's bad, but it seems to be the weakpoint in the system, at least to me. Just my .02
any other suggestions?

I choose the headunit cause I don't really need any features like ipod connectivity, bluetooth etc... I'm partial to Pioneer Premier because of the looks

also

do you think I should go with a 12" BL - or maybe even a 15" Q?

I'm a little worried about getting the high output I want through the gas tank and into the cabin

yeah thanks, I did some research and looked around on some Lexus forums any many people have done exactly what you said, probably later down the road I will redo the entire center console, but as of now I just want to pick out equipment
