sauna tube box?

well i saw about a month ago that someone was selling sauna tubes that were inclosed with bondo or glass that fit some drivers. i was wondering if there are any real advantages in using something cylinrical rather then a boxed design. heres my thoughts...

im a construction worker. get a MDF ring to fit a 10 or 12. get a tube that fits the outside and inside diameret of the MDF ring. that will form the top of my tube making the thinkness of the walls whatever the thinkness is on the rings. im thinking like an inch to an inch and a half. then i can build a frame for the bottom to be flat. bacisly making a cylinder shape with one open end with the MDF ring so i can mount the driver. the tubes will then be filled with cement. what is more rigid then a cement cylinder? if i want to go even further i can wrap it all in glass if anyone things it would make it stronger. but i can get some REAL high PSI concrete from work. like the grade used for highway brighes. you will be able to run this over with a semi and it woundnt flex. i could even get real crazy and put some thin rebar in it. this thing would be a tank.

then i thought about how to make a port. obviously being the newb i am im trying to think of how to slot port it, then i realized all i would have to do is drill out a hole when its done and put some aero ports in it. duh, easy fix to my porting problem.

so what do you guys think? obviously the only disadvantage i can see is weight. it will weigh about 80 lbs without bar in it. probably about 100 if i get nasty and put rebar through it. thougths, comments, concerns?

i think a 9510 or 12 would hit HARD in this...

maybe there is a different term in car audio. but in construction you use SAUNA tubes for pouring concrete cylinder shapes...

umm refer to my last post... every brand my company has ever bought, which is about 4 different brands, all are spelled sauna. but whatever. who gives a **** how its spelled.

Sonotube is a thick cardboard mold used to make cement columns, it has no rebar or concrete inside when you buy it, and it would be substancially lighter than an MDF box.

umm thanks, but i know it dosnt have anything in it, its my profession... granted im only 2 years into it...

my point is to put concrete in it to make it very dense and not flex under high SPL...

It doesnt need increased reinforcement.

Sonotube is used in many commercial subwoofer systems, and due to its round shape its next to impossible for it to deform in high SPL situations.

If it lost its shape that easily it wouldnt make a good mold for several tons of concrete to sit in while it dries.

awsome, i really have the itch to do this. its probably dumb but it will be concrete filled. like i said, plain cardboard WILL flex under high SPL. even though the point of it holding tons of concrete comming up, it just holds it. thats it. theres a difference between holding it, and haveing air pressuring beating on it. i know it wouldnt collapse or anything, but i want it as rigid as possible. if thats the case people would mount there drivers on the cardboard box it was shipped in and call it a day... i smell a build log.

cardboard box and the card board tubes are way diff.

boxes are real thin.. and have air pockets/ ridges.. These tubes are probably made with 1" thick cardboard w/ no gaps... kinda like thick paper wrapped around itself tightly...

take a piece of paper and roll it up small and tight... same concept but way stronger

edit:

i know because i hade a small cardboard tube my mom had for a large roll of fabric.. the tubes was maybe 2-3 feet but the shit was 1/2" thick and strong as hell. you could beat it with a metal pipe and barely do any damage.
