Rule for depth of enclosure?

Is there a rule for depth of a sealed enclosure? I haven't seen any discussion about that anywhere. Enclosure be at least 1/3 deeper than the sub depth? Can I go deeper than that? Using one 10" 300W RMS sub (6" deep).

If the pole piece is vented, a good 2 fingers between the bottom of the sub and the enclosure. If its not it doesnt really matter

Does not matter, the only thing you have to" worry" about is clearance issues
