router bit size

when you guys cut out the rings out or any other part out of mdf with a router what size of bit do you guys use?
1/4" dia. 1" length usually as most of my jigs are calibrated to a 1/4" bit. I hate math //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

1/4" spiral upcut is what I use. If you do a lot of double/triple baffle stuff then find the longest bit you can...
There a big difference between upcut and downcut? Downcut seems to leave a clean edge on the surface so wouldn't one prefer that especially when making boxes?

And anyone know where to get 1/4" spiral but 2" or so cutting length? Everywhere I've looked I only see 1-1/4"
