First Ported Build?

I'm planning on building my first ported box soon. It will be for 3 jl 12w1s. I plan on making it a slot port about 4.7 cubes at 28hz. My question is about port area. The design I have now has about 74in of port area. Would that work or will I end up with port noise? More? Less? I'm still learning about designing enclosures so anything else I should consider? First post, BTW. Thanks.

That will probably be plenty. It does also depend on the dimensions of the port and any bends, however.

if you need a box design.. there are great members in here that do great job...to start out with ill say member -PIONEER~SATURN- he is the man for box designs...if interested you should hit him up..

Thanks, so far what I have is an L-port 4" wide 18.5" tall 11.25" deep and 25" long. Overall the box will be 45" long 20" high and 16" deep. Going in a GMC Jimmy. Box is for 3 12w1s. Any problems with this?

your car is a SUV i believe?..and you said ported right?..it sounds good to me..

EDIT:i think my box is 45 long also...i only have a 15 ported @30hz...it gets loud and low!!...

Yeah its an SUV. w1s aren't the loudest subs out there but I got them free so I'm trying to get the most I can out of them. They do get decently loud sealed though.

No, since its my first build I'm just going to keep it simple. Subs and port back. Eventually I'll probably go to sub up port back but that will probably be with some better subs.
