Item(s) for Sale:

Rockford Fosgate Power Series 1500bd. Rated 750 watts RMS @ 4 ohm, and 1500 watts RMS @2 ohm. Original owner said birth sheet was 1823 RMS @ 2 ohm, and that this amp is also 1 ohm stable.

Item(s) Description/Condition:

Good working condition, no bass remote or endcaps. No major defects on the cover, some slight spots on back cover. All knobs and switches work as they should. There is some slight torroidal vibration when its cold sometimes, but clears up within a few minutes of turning on. Does not affect the functionality of the amp, but it seems to be a fairly common issue among these amps....

Class bd technology

750 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms

1500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms

requires 4-gauge power and ground leads — wiring and hardware not included with amplifier

4-gauge power and ground connectors

150-amp fuse and fuse holder required

selectable 50-250 Hz variable low-pass crossover, 24 dB/octave

MEHSA mounting technology increases the heat transfer from the MOSFET output devices to the heat sink, for higher power output, lower operating temperatures, and greater reliability.

TOPAZ noise-killing differential inputs eliminate 80% of ground loop noise between the head unit and the amp.

NOMAD advanced protection circuitry monitors temperature, voltage, current and impedance, and provides "intelligent" shut-down protection without limiting system performance.

preamp outputs for easy connection to a second amplifier

wired remote control of Punch Bass (0-18 dB centered at 45 Hz) — gives you fingertip control of your bass impact

POWERsync — a 6-pin mini-DIN connector that allows you to bridge together two separate Rockford Fosgate Class bd amps

subsonic filter removes frequencies below the range of human hearing for increased efficiency

dimensions: 18-1/2"W (13-11/16" without endcaps) x 2-7/16"H x 9-7/8"D

Price:

$300 + shipping. I will take a partial trade, I am looking for some 18" to 21" baskets, and various softparts for a franken sub project with ge_off_me. Maybe we could work something out?

I am really looking for a Rubicon 800.5, if you got one, I will trade for it.

Shipping and Miscellaneous Item Information:

Shipped from 97203.

Someone was selling the same amp in better condition for 150 shipped. It is not one ohm stable. I blew the 1000 version because a rf dealer told me that out was one ohm stable. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Some of them are stable and some of them aren't. This particular amp has been modded for 1 ohm loads. It has run a Dual 2 HX2 12" at 1 ohm for its entire life before I acquired it. I can verify that as I was the person who removed this amp from his car. I have run my 18's on it as well at 1 ohm. But thanks for the heads up! If anybody is seriously interested in it, make me an offer, I have no use for this amp!

Maybe it was ran at one ohm maybe it wasn't. What is it really RATED for? And who did this so called modification. Earthquake D2's were ran at 1 ohm or lower all the time. Doesn't mean they were stable on that load. Many amps can be run at lower than rated impedance for a bit. Doesn't make them reliable at that load. Take this as a post dump if ya want but anybody can say that somebody modified their amp to do this or that. I think buyers would feel more comfortable if you weren't as vague about what the rated ohm load is or who modified it to run one ohm loads.

It is rated to run 2 ohms, as stated on the original post and also in the pictures of the back cover, I don't see how I was being vague about that at all. As for the modification, I was told it was handled by a guy named Ives, who seems to be a bit of a local legend around Portland, as an amp builder. Not modding amps, but building them from nothing but components. Hope that clears things up a bit.

Straightup guy here. One of my best friends who happens to know a lot about what goes on inside of amps...he is my "repair guy". He owns his own little car audio business that is rapidly expanding because he does better work than anyone else for the price around here...

I have seen and heard it ran off a 1-ohm load for hours at a time, or full tilt for about 30 minutes. Sounded awesome, btw. Definitely very powerful as well.

If someone got one for $150, that has no effect on this sale. They got a steal of a deal, for 1800wrms! That's better than Discus, and this is much better quality. 250 shipped is more than fair, and if you don't want to buy it for that much, then either make a reasonable offer or gtfo before I report your post for post dumping. I couldn't care less if it was $1500, you don't just trounce in and try to tear down his sale. If he doesn't sell it for that much, he would either reduce the price or keep it. None of that affects you.

it is quite easy to mod these amps. all you do is remove diode 101 IIRC on the board. this disables the overload protection, allowing it to be 1 ohm stable. had the modded 1501 for a bit. the output was shorted and the amp was fried. just an fyi.

Bump in the night...

Easy? That sounds stupid. The right way to do it, would be to beef up the power supply and output transistors and rail caps, among other things, not remove the protection circuit.

This amp has NOT had its protection circuit removed or disabled whatsoever. I will post pictures of the protection circuit if needed... and its D106, BTW.

Smart man right here...

i couldnt remember which one, but now that you mention it, thats what i recall. the thermal protection remains intact with that diode removed. but the circuit protection is disabled. i would take a close look to verify its intact. i remember five years ago when i was lookin for one of these there were literally dozens on ebay, and the only mod was the dioderemoval. great amp, wish i still had mine to be honest.
