Hello I’m running two 6 1/2 Savard subs 350 rms each in a ported box under my seat. I’m using a DD amp 600rms would I hear a difference if i switch to a sundown amp 1000rms. Also I listen to a lot of Spanish music so the bass is not as hard as hip hop, so I doubt I would over power them. Also I had posted about my subs before but I want to try to get more bass out of them before I just go a different route since no luck with epicenter.

Truthfully you're not gonna get a lot of output from a pair of 6.5's. You might notice a slight difference but since you won't be able to feed those subs the full 1k. Personally I think you either need more cone to get what you're after or higher tuning for you're 6.5's

600 to 1200 watts, 3db
1200 to 2400 another 3 db
2400 to 4800 watts another 3 db

You have to go from 600 to 5000 watts to double what the ear perceives as a doubling of the volume (10 db). From your 600 to 1000, about 1.5 db or a 9% increase in volume. Insignificant.

I was considering to changing my subs to two 10in slim subs but don’t know if that would be any louder I never had slim subs.

That's a rough estimate of total cone area but it's a dramatic difference

2 10's, all other things considered equal, will have almost 3 tims the cone area. MUCH more output at any given wattage.

If I were looking for some slim subs for that amp. Id prob put these in for the $. Come with a hell of a warranty/best in the market. Other than that.. The American Bass ES series are excellent, and the SL are pretty decent too/a little impressive for as thin as they are.CT Sounds just came out with some slim subs.. I have not tried them yet, but specs look nice for them.

Might take a look at NVX also? Check the Sonic Electronix site to see oif they may be on sale or at a better price even?

just a couple recommendations

Those Savard 6.5s do very well in a ported box. I’d take them over a shallow mount any day, aside from the JL TW5 shallow subs. .5 cubes per sub tuned to 34-37 HZ works very well with these. They will also handle a bit more power than the 350 watts depending on the enclosure. The Savard 6.5s and the RDS 6.5s are very impressive small drivers.

This is a single RDS 6.5. RDS performed very similar to the Savard in my testing. It actually did well even in an SUVs large cabin. It performs even better on music than test tones, but the test tones show how much air these little things actually move. In the right enclosure these 6.5s will outperform most shallow mounts in the same air space.

That’s the little single 6.5 inch enclosure. The Savard did just as well as the RDS. These subs do well in ported or 6th orders but not as well in sealed or 4th order boxes. Definitely a ported box subs.
