Requesting Newbie Help on 1999 Nissan Maxima SE (Bose)

Hi everyone,

After taking some time to review my options, I ended up purchasing a Kenwood KDC-X993 for $234 off eBay. I've never done an install before, and I know I need some parts for it, so I was hoping you all could help me out with it! My car still has the factory stereo on it, which is the Bose model. That said, I bought this car used and it already has an amplifier hooked up to a 12" subwoofer in the trunk. Seeing as that I'm generally able to follow instructions, I figured I'd give this install a try on my own, as long as I could consult the experts on this forum first.

Here are my main questions:

What will I need to purchase for this install to go correctly?

Is it a bad idea to install the head unit without replacing the factory door and/or rear speakers first?

What should I know before I begin, and how should I approach the process?

If anyone can add additional details, I'd be very grateful! Thanks for your time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If your amp/sub are factory system, then you'll need an adapter.
Check out http://www.pac-audio.com/

If the amp/sub are aftermarket, then you just need a wire harness and a set of rca's.
That's a good point. They are aftermarket, so would that mean the original owner already had to purchase and install an adapter, even though the head unit is factory as well as the in-car speakers?

If you need some help with the install let me know I can either come help you or help you over the internet. Your going to need the dash kit and the wiring harness you can get all that from crutchfield. Or may your local installer shop.
Thank you sir, I appreciate that! Once I get down to it, I'll definitely PM you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If the amp/sub is aftermarket, that means the original owner is probably using a line output converter which plugs into the rca's on the amp. You will be removing that converter and running your own rca's from your new HU.
