so i bought a new car recently. a 2008 honda fit. i took my system out of my jeep and now im fiending that bass. one reason i havent put it in is because i was almost certain i couldnt power it.i have a 1600 watt dhd amp and 2 10'' kicker cvrs. i stopped at an audio shop today, and he said my alternator is probally 80 or 90 amps (which i thought was wrong because its tiny) i cant find the size of my alternator, the only thing i could find was a forum where one guy said it was a 60, some someone corrected (possibly) him and said it was a 90.

if any problems, the guy at the shopped assured me that a 5 farad capasitor would solve any problems. what u guys think?

i know this is a longshot, but does any1 know the ampage on a 2008 honda fit alternator?

Don't bother with a cap. Get a good group 31 in the trunk. After the install, if the dimming gets bad, then you'll have to upgrade the alt.

a 5 farad cap is going to cost you about $150, you can find an Optima Yellow for a little more than that.

switching out the alt is not an option. it would void the extended warranty that i pay for.

buy an hc600 or 800 and put it at the amps, we ran off of an 80 amp alternator on 2kw rms with an hc600 no problems.

You just need to remember that your system will consume more power than your alt will produce, so its up to your batt(s) to store enough energy to fully power your amp.
