recone questions...

OK... got a recone from TeamPSI for my SPL-15 motor but I have some questions. They might seem dumb but i have never done a recone so i have to ask.

its a D2, 8 layer flatwind with dual sewn-on leads...

1. the Spiders on the recone are smaller than the original and do not sit in the same spider landing... it does seem to fit fine a couple landings down though..? this OK?

2. the coil from the recone is much short than the oginal as well...?

3. I didn't get any shims/spacers or whatever you want ot call them...? what should I use?

pics are coming... When i ordered it, it was suppose to be run on a 4Kw @ 1ohm, now it will be on a 2000D @ 1ohm instead...









Please help me... I am hoping to get this done tonight...

ummmm dat dont look right homie.

If the spiders fit on a different landing and the coil still physically operates in the same place on the pole peice then you're probably OK. Sometimes manufacturers change the way the make their recones for whatever reason it may be. Sorry, I should have stated this is a TeamPSI recone kit... I wanted a blank cone with no dustcap and didn't find out until like a week after i paid (the day they where shipping the kit out) that due to the pole piece this wasn't possible. Looking back i should have just went with a Mach5 recone i think but... too late for that... NOTHING against TeamPSI or anything like that, just the only reason I didn't go with a Mach5 recone was because i want'd that blank look like the RE XXX. 13W7 etc...

the stock cones on my audioques sat in the next landing up from where the recones sat. there was another piece on top of the outside of the spider held down by allen screws on the stock cone.

unless David has one of those subs and has tested a recone with it, id be worried. I know I couldn't just build one from specs and promise it would work.

i would give him a shout maybe there was a mix up. should use a 8"spider...

How tall is the gap on that motor?

The coil looks significantly shorter than the original.

the gap goes all teh way to the bottom plate or back plate or whatever, so about 4" or so...

Talked to him and we are good...

Basicaly said he didn'e send me a SPL-15 "clone" because that is not what i asked for. I gave him system specs and he supplied me with the best suited recone for my application. Sadly it is too late now so i will have to go at it tomorow sometime...
