Recommendation: 12" Space Saving SQL SUB UNDER $300? 1200-1500RMS

I'm looking to get one space saving 12" SPL sub. I have heard about Mach 5, DC Audio, Incriminatior Audio and the list goes on. I have been looking at amps and the general consensus is between the MB Quart DSC1500.1D and the Sundown SAE-1200Dv2. Both seem to be very popular here. And should push great subs. I'm not interested in custom subs. Any recommendations would be great. And where to get a good custom box would be great too.

There are alot of box builders present. So you'll have options. SPY to name just one.

DC Lvl 4 XL on ~1k-1.3k yould do well. Or a DC 4 XL (higher spl content than the Level 4) on 1.5k-2k.

Fi BL would work.

Edit: As far as space saving is concerned. Fi Q takes 1k and can be small sealed.

DC's do well in smaller, ported boxes as well.

Another person recommended the same DC Lvl 4 XL sub. But the level 5 coil version. Do you have any say about those?

The Level 4 XL would be just fine without the different coil on 1500. It's rated for that and can take more if given it properly.

The XL is a nice sub. The 12" model needs less than 3 cubes...

Nope. I own a Level 4 12" and know it's sound very well though.

The XL is supposed to be more of a SPL woofer.

Ask member "randpost" about their sound. He has owned them.

strictly spl orientated? ur going to roll around playing test tones? bups? etc.... or will you be listening to music....

Great point d_man. I wouldn't mind have a mixture of SPL and SQ. But nice SPL and accuracy as well as reliability would be great. I'm open to everyone's opinion. I listen to mostly hiphop.

A DC Level 4 would pair nicely with the sae-1200. The Level 4 can get loud and sound decent.

More than decent compared to other "SQL" woofers imho.

I'm not going to call it a SQ woofer or anything like that. But for a SQL sub, it does its job well.

3 cubes is a lot for a 12. I wouldnt call that space saving.
