REALLY freakin weird problem...

so im driving yesterday, bumpin my new 13w7 with my 1000/1, in NE philly looking for a Verizon store. I go to turn around in an empty parking lot. The parking lot had a little bump i hit when i pulled in. When i hit this bump, all my dash light came on (like my car just stalled) and my HU turned off (like my car just stalled), but my car was still running. Then everything went back to normal, EXCEPT my 1000/1 stayed off. so im like WTF? i go and look at it, and no lights are on. V light is off, low ohm light is off, warn light is off, and power light is off. so im thinking, what just happened?, did i blow a fuse? well then i realized that if a bad surge went through my power wires, my 300/4 wouldnt be working, but it still works fine (each amp is fused seperatly). so now im puzzled.

the bump really was not that bad at all. This is sooooo weird. I tried to check my 1000/1's fuse, but its really freakin hard to get to. When im done this thread im gonna wip out my trusty DMM and check if theres power to the 12V and REM. While im doing this, any1 got any ideas? Do you think i somehow blew my amp? (there was no weird smell or sparks, that i knew of). ill post my findings...

Ive had this problem before, check to make sure your getting full voltage through the fuse, the fuse wont look blown but it is separated enough to impead adequate power to run both amps.

speed bumps were made for jumping...i dont even feel them

it wasnt a speed bump. i didnt race over it AT ALL. but...

i found the problem. i totally nuked the fuse. luckily i had a spare 100amp laying around. any1 know how i could blown only 1 fuse? and the larger fuse of the 2, at that?

This is bad news you hit a bump and you blew a fuse..

Which fuse did you blow?

that fuse blew and not teh other!? Wheres Jmac when you need him to help explain this to us

IMO, could be the current draw and sudden power surge through that specific fuse. Thats just my guesstimate not my final word

it was the inline ANL fuse that i blew. the 1 on the power wire. i would really like to know how i blew this inline fuse but not my 300/4's inline fuse.

loose connection somewhere i guess? tighten them screws down and enjoy the bump!

Because they will not blow at the same time. The fuses on the amp are the final protection. The one at the battery is the one that is going to protect your equipment. You don't want the amps fuse blowing and not the inline fuse. Somthing shorted out. Check your wires and make sure they are all secure and covered...

where could it have shorted? cause if it shorted AFTER the inline fuse, then wouldnt my amp be toast? and would that even make the ANL fuse blow?

IS the fuse old? It may have been possible that a some time if it is old it was put thru high amperage and didnt blow but almost did and it weakened the fuse then the bump totally seperated it.

not really too old. i got the amp kit when i got my kx1200.1. which means it was about a year or so ago. and the bump wasnt even that hard. i think it might have something to do with my instrument cluster lights turning on too.
