RE SX 15 vs. 2 Alpine Type X

Talk to Pepsifiend69, he had two l7's and I sold him my SX 18", he said it was way louder. I believe its in a 6 cube box tuned to 32, not too sure but thats running the same amp as he was runnin on the l7's. Kicker 1250, not sure which one.
edit- 18 has a little more cone area also, btw I'm not talking about the new l7's

I know what ya mean. it's all install dependent. i thought the 2 12's would have more area but as you said they don't, looked it up. be a very close fight for either one to win.

18" SX > 2 12" L7's

true statement....install dependent, but from my own person experiance with both of those setups, my 18sx Shit all over my 12" l7's

you might have an advantage since u would port the fifteen, but still 2 12" type x is still a loud setup, depending on its install

the sound quality of it is very impressive for an 18", has way better sound quality than my l7's did.

i mean, its not JL audio style SQ, but it sounds very good with all kinds of music, not just rap

i'd recomend it, but i really depends on how you set it up, mines in the minimum recomended ported box tuned low, but of course you'll have good SQ there. it makes for a very good daily driver sub IMO.

it comes down to the installation basically...

yea i mean type x isnt a spl sb, but it doesnt mean it cant get loud, which it can get loud, very loud imo,...maybe not as loud as the SX, but i think the x's would sound better if done right

i owned a 15 and it does very will with music, re designed it as loud DAILY driver, not pure spl... it's 65/35 spl/sq

if possible, go with a bigger enclosure than 3.5 cubes for that 15. ive got my 2 15 inch sx's in 13 cubes gross, tuned to 32 hertz, with 140 square inches of port area, basically an sql set up. ive got a kicker kx2500.1 on them, birthsheet says 2864 watts into 2 ohms. they are just eating it up

Nice, this is what I want to hear. All I heard was "sq is total shit, it's pure spl! fart sub man!". I'm glad I went on instinct instead of solely on other people's opinions.
