RE SX 15 vs. 2 Alpine Type X

i have the re boner
I have a RE SX 15 coming in soon, and I know it's going to be loud, but I'm not sure how loud. Nobody in my school really knows much about car audio, so I think this single sub setup is going to amaze the people who spend first, think later (or should I say spend first, never think //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif) Anyways, my friend has 2 Alpine type x 12's, in a sealed box, in a late 90's volvo, powered by some big *** mtx amp. I'm going to have my 15 SX in a 3.5 cuft box tuned to 32 hz, powered by 1000-1200 watts rms, in a 1989 jeep cherokee. I know you guys hate these kind of threads, but what do you think will be louder? It's just a friendly little wager //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif Thanks for all your input!

Edit: I know the SX is an SPL sub, and the Type X is more of a loud SQ sub, I just wanted some opinions.

Yours better be louder, ported in an SUV. Get it in the right setup and go show the kid what loud is. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

edit- It depends greatly on what power those X's are getting too, does the kid know what he is doing? I'm sure you could make his setup poundddd...

Well I consider his to absolutly slam, so I guess even I don't know what loud is. However, I'm willing to find out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif Maybe a more fair comparison would be my other friend's two l5 12s in a sealed enclosure powered by an mtx 801d, in a ford explorer, how would I stack up agaisnt that?

You should be able to shit all over that setup.

18" SX > 2 12" L7's

I'd probably give it to the l5's just on cone area and l5's are pretty loud. But it's all install dependent on both sides.

Yeah no matter what it all depends on the install. Get your stuff setup right and it will pound bro! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Well, his install is some small *** sealed box. I'm pretty sure the box is way too small for the l5's, he just bought it that way. I'm going to have my big ported box, probably gonna do the big 3 and a brand new battery while I'm at it. I've set up systems before, and it's no problem. I'm just hoping I can even compete, he spent alot more for the box, l5's, and amp than I did on my stuff, but then again he overpaid by alot.

If he's only got 500rms going to each of those x's, you're going to destroy him.

It could still come down to the box and tuning, tho. But there's a good chance the single, more efficient 15's going to stomp an underpowered sql setup.

That would be close. It would be install against install. I'd give the edge to the l7's though.
Talk to Pepsifiend69, he had two l7's and I sold him my SX 18", he said it was way louder. I believe its in a 6 cube box tuned to 32, not too sure but thats running the same amp as he was runnin on the l7's. Kicker 1250, not sure which one.

edit- 18 has a little more cone area also, btw I'm not talking about the new l7's

He doesn't have tuning, so I guess it comes down to my tuning. Also, I wouldn't really consider his setup SQL, it's more like ghetto loud? I don't know how to describe it. It hits pretty hard though.
