hey i just put my subs in a sealed box that i made hooked everything up and went to test it. When i turned it on it was fine but when i turn the bass up there is a rattling noise in only one of the subs. when i push the sub agianst the box the sound stops. I tried tightening the screws didn't do anything. anyone know what i can do? By the way the box isn't carpeted but the subs are rockfords so they have that rubber gasket around the edge so i figured it would be fine to put them against the mdf.

Sounds like you need a new or thicker gasket. You can get door weatherstripping or something similar. Another thing to look at is if the hole you cut out for the sub is a touch to small it won't let the sub seat properly

sorry but what do you mean stuffed. does that mean the the hole i cut for the sub is to small

if you hear the gringing noise the sub is usualy on the way to being blown

and have you done what i did one time and left a screw in teh box

the easyest way to test that is to pick up the sub and shake it while it is in the box

i don't hear the grinding when i move the cone if this is what you mean and i don't hear anything when i shake the box i only hear it when i turn the volume up high but if i put pressure around the edge where the screws are the nois stops

what did u seal your box w/? wha type of glue and caulk did you use? it may poosible be your box? is this your 1st box you built? i know all the boxes i build, i end up blowing out the back walls on, and when tha happens youll here tha type of noise.. check your caulk and make sure it isnt busted or cracked.. on the inside and outside of the box..i always end up haveing t use fiberglass to keep my box to stay together

Originally posted by abcdefg take the sub out and just move sub around a little bit and put it in and re drill the holes on the new spot then screw it down, dont use a power drill b/c itll strip the wood
Strip the wood? I've never encountered such a thing... And I have used power drills.

ok i'll try moving it cause i did use a power drill so they are probaby stripped. what do u mean by te trim being loose and how would i fix that.
