Quick Sub Wiring Question

Okay, so I have 12 feet of 10 gauge wire, and I have a D2 sub. I want to get it down to a 1Ω load so I would need tow ire like this :

Only problem is the push terminals on my MT can only fit 1 run of 10gauge, and wiring that way I would need 2 runs in a pos and a negative terminal. So my question is would it be possible to just splice into the wire somewhere and run it that way to the amp? Would it change the overall resistance or something? I don't think so cause I probed the wire with a DMM and it's 1Ω regardless of where on the wire I touched.

Here's a couple pics demonstrating an example :

This is the coils wired together:

And assume those strips of masking tape are a new wire of the same gauge spliced in:

Also, I'd probably solder where the wires meet and cover it up with heat shrinking tube.

So, will this work or do I need to buy 12 gauge? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Thanks for reading! Hope to see some answers!

i always do halfzies with my subs with push terminals.... like ===||==--||---
Heh, sorry if I'm missing something obvious but I don't understand. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

it should work. good idea. but the less wire, the less power....
Yeah that's kinda why I was wondering if this would be a problem. I'm not sure exactly how much or what type of current an amp sends to a speaker, but I see some people wiring with 16gauge so I figured splitting a 10 gauge won't be a problem? Or am I wrong?

HALP! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Lol, thanks for all the quick replies though guys. Still wondering wth Hoxie was talking about. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well lol like i said it should work. i cant tell you if its a problem im using 8 gauge lol.
Haha damn, well maybe someone will know for sure. Thanks for the reply though, I just don't really wanna fuck something up and then have to get a recone from RE, which can be quite pricey. And I refuse to have a Fi dustcap on my MT. Lol.

I mean, it is the same resistance anywhere in the wire, but I know cutting into the wire will probably lower the amount of current it can carry safely, and fire is not my friend.

Yeah, I'm not starting my build until tomorrow and even then it'll probably be 3-7 days before all is said and done and it's time to wire, but I wanna know asap so I can get new wire if need be.

Bumpin it up, install is starting in about an hour. I probably won't get to the sub till at least next week, but still need to know eventually //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

a, yes it would
b why does ur mt have push in all 4 of mine have set screws and i have 2 10awg in mine no prob

your other option is to get a wire reduce used for power wires

http://cgi.ebay.com/Stinger-Gold-4-Gauge-8-Gauge-Power-Wire-Reducer-NEW_W0QQitemZ200238935487QQihZ010QQcategoryZ50549QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

this would work too

My MT just does. Haha, I bought it used off of ProjectPat06 (Brandon) and that's how it was. I guess he put them on when he did the recone? I don't know, but I always wondered as every pic I've seen with MT has screw terminals //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif.

Well if what furbies suggested would work I may just do it that way.
