quick questions before I install my RSDs !!

I've seen members make an mdf ring to mount thier midbass on as opposed to straight on the sheet metal. Whats the advantage ? and can i go to home depot ?

And also, as far as speaker wires go 16 gauge is good ?

Thanks for the quick response ! I'm thinking about getting some modeling clay also, but not sure where to purchase ? Do you apply the clay directly to the sheet metal/mdf ?

use mdf but treat it so that moisture is not an issue. 16 guage wire is fine.

def treat the mdf like has been suggested. when i bought my civic i heard a rattle in the door and took the panel off and moisture turned the mdf spacer for my speaker into cardboard basically! it was all soft and the speaker was falling off.

i used an untreated piece thinkin "nah they'll be alright" and not even a month later they were both destroyed. so live and learn, or learn from us. lol

Also, make sure to deaden the hell out of the door (sealing any holes as well).

yes, of course. the rsd's will rattle your doors like crazy if you don't deaden them. they make some pretty wicked mid-bass.
