Questions about "Bass Control" Knob

So I just ordered a remote bass control knob from AQ, and I have a few questions 'bout it.

First off, the back of the unit has something that looks like a phone jack plug, now forgive me if this is obvious but is this designed for a regular telephone cord?

Also, the setting goes from "MAX" to "MIN". Is the MAX assumed to be the current gain setting of the amp, and as you move the knob towards MIN it decreases the gain from that point?

I wish it was a gain control knob.

sadly....

its a bass booster knob.

most here will tell you to not use it.

as it distorts music - and can clip

BASS Boost Knob = just boosts a certain freq, (usually 38 or 40 Hz)

The AQ with clipping indicator is a remote gain knob, but what amp do you have as it probably only works with AQ amps.

If I install it and it's set all the way to "MIN" will it still apply a minute amount of boost?

I have an AQ22000D I purchased new from somebody who had already fiberglassed the knob in his car, so I had to order a seperate one from DJ.

No

Min = 0

Max = +18 dB gain @ 40 hz I beleive

Well I had seen it described as a "gain knob" around the forums but as it actually says "bass control" on the front I wanted to make sure of it's actual function. Just checking, see.

Still, assuming that's true, it still raises the question about the MIN/MAX thing... is the MAX attributed to the physical setting of the gain knob on the amp, and any setting on the bass control knob towards MIN lowers the actual gain?

If it is a gain knob and not a bass boost knob set it to max and reset the gain on the amp from there, as far as the phone cord I have no idea.
