Ok, so as of now, I have my ground wire connected to a bolt in the third row seat frame of my Honda Pilot. I tested it with a multimeter, and it conducts fo shizzle. My power and remote turn on wire are ran on the left side of the car (No idea where the remote wire goes, the back of the head unit? my friend said something about windshield wipers but hes a dipshit)

and my RCA cables are ran on the right side, around to the back of the head unit. Nothing is plugged in as of now because I don't have the gosh **** head unit installed, and its making me crazy. Tell me if I'm doin this right for the H/U install other than doing it on my own because I'm in over my head. I'm gonna take it to a car audio shop, where htey charge $65 base, before parts... They'll get the dash kit and everything, and by that time it will be a little over $100 for the install, hopefully I can get them to include the few connections that will need to be made to the sub too in that price.

But yeah, is it correct that all I need to do now is connect the RCA's to the new HU, get the remote wire put in, and connect the power wire?

Sure?... I don't really see a question here, yeah if you connect everything correctly it should work lol. If you're gonna post here you should probably have some kind of question that we can try to answer... From what I read though, what do you mean your ground conducts? remote wire is a switched 12volt source, has nothing to do with the wiper. It is 0v when the ignition is off, 12v when the key is in ignition or accessory mode.

Um, I kinda spelled out the question, there's even a question mark after it. I know it's a stupid noob question, but I just wanted to run it by anybody who cared to look, I don't wanna screw my car up haha.

butt splices! just match the 2 different wiring diagrams by color and butt splice them! dont pay $100, its really hard to mess it up.

ive only been in car audio for about a year now. and i installed my first h/u

dont pay someone 100 bucks to do a 10 dollar job. its really easy. and besides if you do it yourself you will know how everything works and if somthing goes wrong you can at least try to fix it.

i installed my 1st HU a couple months ago. I have no clue why i paid best buy so much to do it on my 1st car. from now on i will do all my car audio myself. I have installed 3 HU, and wired up an amp / sub for a friend.

Sorry to bump this, but thanks a lot for the info. Went to best buy a few minutes ago and asked the dude some generic questions, he kinda knew what he was talking about, but $50 for the base price to install = nono. So I just picked up some wii games and left.. but that's not the point. I'll definitely do it myself.

Ok, so, retarded question, but just to be absloutley sure, the blue wire with the white stripe on my HU's wiring harness that says "System remote control" is the remote wire right? Or is that the wire that powers the little remote control thing or what?

If I'ma install this myself, I don't wanna jank it up.

Yes, that is the remote wire that you want to connect to your amps remote lead (the blue wire you ran from your amp)

Installing headunits have become extremely easy since the creation of wiring harnesses that plug into the factory wiring. All you have to do is plug in the harness to your factory plugs and match up the harnesses wiring to the headunits wiring. It's that easy.

That's what it seems like, I think I'm gonna go to the hardware store and get some wire caps and a stripper, and be done with it. I need that **** dash kit though, I don't want a gaping hole in my dash. I guess it'll just float around in there till I get it. I really wanna bump my sub.

Thanks a lot for not being assholes btw.

Can anyone tell me where on the back of my HU I hook up my system remote control wire? Thanks.

At first I was thinking it was that empty jack to the left, but now im guessing it could be that blue wire seen at the top of the pic.

This is a year old thread but I'll help you anyways. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You want to look for a blue wire that is possibly labeled "remote".

Not to be confused with the "power antenna" wire which only turns on when you listen to the radio (no cd's, aux input, etc.)

That blue wire you are referring to looks like it's coming out of the wiring harness, not out of the radio itself. You don't want to use that.
