I just had an Arc Kar series 400.4 installed and it overheats. It doesn't have much airflow (Mazda 3 hatch back) so I'm taking out the plastice piece in the cargo area that covers the amp. I'm replacing it with a MDF or particle board that I'll cut a hole in.
First ? Would it be better to cover the underside (part that will be above the amp) with carpet or let it uncovered, just the MDF board.
If the hole isn't enough I'll try adding a fan(s). I've read that you only need to hook it up to the remote turn-onlead and ground. Is this true for a CPU fan? Do I need to worry about looking for a certain voltage the fan runs on?
For reference the amp is down under the subwoofer box. Not directly under it but more towards the rear of the car. There will be whole in front of the box.
