i have a 10" alpine type r, which has a (recommended) sealed box volume range of 5.-.8 cubic feet. unfortunately, the bastards at the shop i bought it from loaded it in the wrong size box and are trying to get cute with me about it, saying its a matter of preference. this is my first system, and as such is the case, MY preference is to have a sealed box with a volume that falls within the range recommended by alpine (after all, they did make the friggin thing).
before I go spend 60-70 bucks on an enclosure that meets the sub's requirements, I wanted to check with you guys to see if it will make any diff and is worth the time, $, and effort.
since i can choose a box with a volume ranging from .5-.8, what would be the diff in sound of the sub in a box on the smaller end (.5) compared to the sub in a box on the larger end (.8)? i want precision, and i put quality before quantity (or at least I try to with the knowledge i possess) so should I choose to go with a smaller or larger sealed enclosure (obviously) within the given range. thanks guys
