so the whole point of this thread is that the OP wants to go from sealed to ported and wants advice on whether he should do it or not? Well, OP what kind of music do you listen to? And have you ever heard ported before?

Yes, he has...it says in the first post //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifso the whole point of this thread is that the OP wants to go from sealed to ported and wants advice on whether he should do it or not? Yea, I havent seen anyone using them yet...i'd like to have a listenX3
Lets model this up and let him choose.
I'm going with IB next also, just because it's easier, I'm lazy, and FI has those new subs out.
Thanks!Yes, he has...it says in the first post //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Most likely not. The right ported enclosure could play them very well, but would also be very large, t-lines and horns could also play those notes better than sealed, but would be even larger than a ported box.Bass I love You is the song I chose because its popular, and has really low content. I wanted to see if the every day guy that runs ported can hear these notes that I speak of.
(a classic, but useful)
Small, Low, Loud.
^True
Also true:
"Once you experience serious pressure at the 15-20hz range, it can be very addicting and pleasing, and porting at 20hz would just be ridiculous down there compared to 30-35hz"
Once again this isnt a general discussion about which sounds better and I dont want it to turn into one.the low note in bass i love you is subsonic. you can feel it, but not hear it. most people cant hear anything less than 20 hz or so. sealed will dip into the subsonic frequencies better, and have a wider bandwith. but there is absolutely no reason a ported enclosure cant sound as good as sealed. there is a lot of mis-information in this thread.
and i'm not turning it into one, there are just a lot of members suggesting sealed cause it sounds better, which isnt always true.Once again this isnt a general discussion about which sounds better and I dont want it to turn into one.
So you're saying a regular ported enclosure tuned to the standard 30's can hit the low notes in "Bass I Love You" equally as well as a regular (medium) sized sealed enclosure? As in, they can be heard/felt in the same intensity?
This brings up another thought, based on your ava.Well, I can test around quite a bit. My enclosure has an interchangeable port-wall that I can make whatever port setup I want for...so I think I will make a few really low-tuned port setups and try out a few things //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I think i'll make a 25Hz-tuned one and then a 20 Hz-tuned one and see the results //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif And i'll have plenty of power behind it, might make some crazy flex-vids //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
