Question for people that like ported..

people that run ported just want to get loud, my type r's sound way better sealed and i ran them ported for almost a year.

dude, i am warning you. Don't do it, you will regret it. Sealed is much better for the music you listen to. You will lose all the bass notes that rock/metal provide if you port, and it will sound like shit.

whatever, my point is that if you listen to rap then go ported. If you like to expand you musical taste and listen to something other, go sealed. You already stated you like rock, so what the hell?

any body who recommends ported for any other reason than getting loud is a moron. I've ran ported and sealed and the sealed made my rock/metal sound much better, and the rap bass is much more punchy.

Ummm, if you go ported and tune low, you will cover the majority of the sub bass frequencies in the musical spectrum. If you tune it high, of course it won't sound as musical as a sealed enclosure. But surely ported doesn't sound like crap and is not intended for just output.

BTW, sealed only for rock? You gotta be pretty gifted (in a negative way) to believe that. I listen to all kinds of music, one of them being rap and I had a sealed enclosure, and even with a 10" sub with 1k I was hitting the lows quite well and got quite loud as well.

whatever man, i have had 2 ported enclosures and 1 sealed in the same car with the same woofers and the sealed sounds much better. Whatever you guys say though, you are the experts at everything. But i will never go ported again in a daily setup.

Well, Im really starting to think I have the best setup for my needs. I dont want to take up my whole trunk with a low tuned ported box. Im satisfied with what I have now. I guess with all they hype of a ported enclosure I was expecting too much.

What I learned:

Ported isnt as good as everyone says if you want to hear anything below tuning. (unless you have 18's)
