I'm looking to build an enclosure for my 12 in. Subwoofer for home use. I'm not sure how to go about the build but I do know I want the enclosure to be tuned to 20 Hz.

Can I get some help and I'm willing to give as much info as necessary, thank you

I think I saw a guy on YouTube test one of those, and it started to smoke with 30 watts of power being fed with a bass sweep.
You might have a real tough time getting 20Hz out of it.

What is your plan for powering it?

With Pyle you're guessing. Every so often they make something worth owning, but I know nothing about that sub. It's specs suggest a large sealed enclosure or better yet an infinite baffle. I'm guessing 2-300 wrms. I'd probably just go 4cuft sealed. Ported maybe 8cuft tuned to 25hz.

Not sure on what I will power it with, I'm thinking it's 700 RMS. This is more of a bored/hobby build on a budget, simple as possible

4 Ohm Impedance (Per Coil)
70 + 70 oz. Magnet Structure
Fs:26,
Qms:5.81,
Qes:0.90,
Qts:0.7,
Vas (Cu ft)4.146
SPL: 90 dB
1400 Watts Peak Power
Overall Diameter: 13''
Mounting Depth: 6.34''

I seriously doubt it'll take 700 wrms. Usually you can cut peak in half and be close to rms power, but with Pyle, it's more like divide by 4-5.

I agree with the 300 watts real world power, sounds about right. It claims a 3" coil, but I suspect it's a lower power one. Hard to say until you start pumping power into it and see how it goes.

I'd throw it into 2ft3 tuned just under 30hz and pray it can handle the low notes you're going to ask of it. 20hz tuned is a big ask for a starter level sub and what do you think you'll hear with a tuning like that anyway?
Whale song?

Thanks for all the feedback, I'm having second thoughts on building the box, it's for home theater i.e. movies.
Don't give up, just work smart. Building a box is fun, and a learning experience.
Make a box that can be "tuned" for a variety of woofers (i.e. a box can be made to appear smaller, to a woofer but it's a lot more difficult to make it appear bigger, ports can be added or blocked, etc). Then, if you toast the Pyramid, you can try something else.
I have an old car box that looks like a Beverly Hillbillies shack from all the changes it went through.

That said, if you shop around, you can pick up a used home sub (with integrated amp) pretty inexpensively. Possibly cheaper than just the materials to build your own box.
If you have the amp, car subs go pretty cheap, too. A guy in my region has a box with two 12" JL drivers in it for $125.

Ok, thnx again, this was a build to exercise my hobby and use leftover MDF scraps. I have one build I'm really wanting to achieve but at a stand still. My current build is 1.4 cu ft air space tuned to 40 Hz area. Im looking to get more trunk space and drop to 33 Hz in tuning. Maybe I can just make a new thread on that build help.
