Protecting door speakers

How do you guys protect your door speakers from weather..

Foam cups? Nothing? Something custom? My doors didn't have speakers fom the factory.

cruthfield (im sure some other companies) have this foam cup thing made for speakers to protect them from weather

I recently removed my MB Quarts from my doors. 96 Ranger

They were in there for 4 years with nothing at all

protecting them from the weather.

They had no signs of weather damage at all.

I imagine it would depend on how well your door

seals keep out any weather that could harm your speaker.

It's probably different from car to car.

Most of the time I don't. But if I'm suspect of the vehicle. I use foam baffles made by a company called xtc. I get them from partsexpress. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yuh, that's what I've been using - the foam cups. But they require the hole to be a bit bigger and when I put my comp's in they're gonna be in the way. I as thinkin of leaving them out, but I don't want to damage the speakers with rain & snow.

Shaun, how well do your doors seal around the windows? The weatherstripping on mine is like 18 yrs old and not perfect. But water would likely run down the window and miss the speakers. I dunno if I sould make an effort to fit the cups in there or not...

It seals pretty good. I tested it by spraying water in all the cracks

around my windows, then I removed the door panel and looked

inside the door to see if any of the water got in. It was bone dry.

Try testing your window seals for leaks. If everything stays dry

inside, don't worry about protecting the speakers.
