Proper amp selection for a dual 4 ohm sub

So if I have one dual 4 ohm sub rated at 600 watt RMS, which amp (not brand) would be ideal?

With the voice coils wired in parallel, the amp will see 2 ohm nominal impedence, correct? Wouldn't you want to go with a class D mono amp....something like a RF P6001 rated at 600 x 1 @ 2, or an Alpine MRD-605 rated similarily (just to name a few popular brands)?

Thanks

the answer to all your ?'s is yes . although I would get a larger wattage amp so you are not running your amp at 100% all the time to get the full rms watts . also voltage drop has to be figured in with a stock electrical system . most amps are rated at 14.5 volts or so , normally your stock electrical will not push this to the amp so you will see even less watts . personally I would choose an amp in the 800-1000 watt range x1@2ohms and set your gain to the sub . better to have to much than too little . just my 2 cents

You can also check the pioneer gm-d510 that its rated exactly the same as the mtx but i've had one running 1.33ohm daily with 3 svc subs 200rms each... pretty loud

amp never get even warm, very well built
