I found a guy selling 2 protect mode hifonics 1500 amps super cheap, i am selling my 1500 to buy them,my question is . all you guys with broken hifonics what ended up fixing it or did you all just abandon ship when they crapped out? I searched around and found A LOT of you went through this but no one says what fixed it...i need a little help. would it cost that much to get them reparied?

Hifonics is for people with limited funds. And to buy a broken Hifonics, are you broke or somthin? Save your money for some thing else...
im not broke but i figure for the price i was getting them for if fixing them wasnt to much i could have more power for my rlp's....it would cost me less then a nine1 or a viper refurb.and i would have 2 sub amps running a little instead of one at 1 ohm heating it up

well it sounds like a good idea but youll end up selling your amp and sending these off and youll be out of a system for some time and would be even worse is they arnt repairable...but i dont kno much when it comes to repearing an amp. how much are you getting them for.

if i pay the 75 he wants (150) and i get 160 for my working one (+10) repair on each is 100 bucks. (190) then i would have spent maybe 210 and have 2 working 1500d's assuming they can be fixed. ive never heard of an amp that cant be fixed though. i guess i could ask for better pics of the insides of them...i didnt see any burnign or anything in the pics he sent.

2 1500's for 210 would be a good enough deal, refurbished or not.

You've never heard of an amp that was abused so badly, that when it burnt up it burned a hole straight through the circuit board, or ruined all of the traces around the area? This kind of damage makes an amplifier repair not so worthwhile, especially on such a cheap product. I would really ask to see pictures of the insides of these amps before slappin down any amount of cash on something you don't know can be fixed.

And if this were me (which I know it's not because if it was we wouldn't be having this conversation) I would turn away from this deal either way, cheap or not you're thinking about buying Hifonics AND an already broken amp. Sounds like a nightmare already starting to happen. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

agreed, you never know whats going on internally

plus, nay on hifonics

yes i have heard of amps so burned that they couldnt b repaired but these are not those i didnt see any seiour damage in either of them...but you guys are right.....maybe ill just get one directed 1200 or 1500 or a viper 1200 and be done with it.

hmmm...is that something i could fix myself...it would be great to save myself some money then i can really get a deal on these....it does worry me that he broke 2 of them...but mine is runnign fine so i think it may just be a fluke

Depends on where the damage is. If it's just the fets around the edge of the board, it might not be so difficult to repair.
Thats how i burned up my first amp when i was a young lad of the ripe ol' age of 14, I was messing around with the HU with all of the fuses in and all of the wires connected, i cut the ground on th Head unit, the wire fell and hit some metal and all of a sudden magical blue smoke. Now, for a questions what do those Fets do, i have never really been informed on all of the internals of an amp, eventhough i would like to think i am.
