Project: Practice door pods

You wasted alot of 1/0 going from the alt to the battery. I just did a straight wire there. Also if your alt goes out let me know I have a stock cavy alt sitting here.
Well the wire was already cut to this length from previous use with connectors on it already. Stringing it in front posed a lot of slack near a hot exhaust manifold.

If I replace the alt it won't be for another stock 80 amp, but thanks anywho.

Well I can still do this. Thanks for the tip. That should ber esy enough.

What he said is the way I usally do it with one exception . Instead of pooling the resin. I tape lay pieces of mat over the holes on the backside. then resin it through the holes , and resin the pieces of mat on the back side . either way works //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif the resin will feel like it adheres well to the plastic . But once the plastic flexes a little it will loosen quickly , and eventually come off completely //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Gotcha. I was thinking that tape laying mat would be beter. It's what I did. I just hope I made enough holes. I basically put one every 1/2" around the perimeter and along the bottom and side. I tape laid the mat on the back side and am waiting for it to dry to do the same on reverse. The main support for the pod will be it being screwed to the door sheet metal, so I just need the fiberglass to hold to the panel wellenough to look good against it. Will this technique of riveting do that for me?

you got a SURPRISINGLY clean car (engine bay at least) for 1800 bucks...

With only 50k miles and sitting under carport it should be clean. I did get quite a deal. Thats why I had to jump on it. It has a dent n the trunk lid and a few small dings on the driver side because he was having problems driving. Mechanically it is sooo solid though.

Got the baffles on.

Getting close to something recognizable. Need to put down about 3 layers of mat and glass, then itwill be te tedious fill sand BS. I forgot how much I really don't like glass. I even swore off it when i did the FG enclosure for the goat, but I'm cheap too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

that might turn into a real headache. I like the no seam look also but its best to glass some bolts/studs as a part of the base and just have them removable.

Don't understand why it has to be removable. This car will be rocked until its death and eventual salvage yard home. Even if it was a car I might sell down the road, I'd just throw some cheap jensen comps in and sell the bish that way. I don't like pods that just bolt to the panel. For one they protrude out further to get proper volume and they have an ugly seam.

Nice stuff DeMan. Next you can do my rig. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
I'll send you the doors. I don't need them.
LMAO! I would say no problem, but what is the point to putting pods on doors that may never be used.
