Problem with sub/amp

While true if he measured impedance with the sub in box it will raise due to rise.

but if it was truely wired for 2 ohm nominal impedance the DMM should read less than 2 ohms, around 1.8. depends on the meter accuracy and contact resistance.

i suspected the amp was seeing a 2 ohm load. fine when run on one channel, not ok bridged. that is why i said the previous owner was foolish - i suspected the sub/amp combo to be incorrect.

let us know if it is a 4 ohm DVC sub. it should say on the magnet or basket. pics would be a huge help.

I took the sub out of the box and there was no sticker or anything.

--The "Top" lead is the positive lead. And the "Bottom" is the negative lead. There's two "terminals" on both sides that I can plug a wire into.

Okay, I just went back and measured the voice coil resistance again, and I got 4 ohms this time. I was using a bad multi-meter.

ok. so it is a 4 ohm SVC sub. the amp should be able to handle it bridged. if it cannot, it could be gain setting.

the sub wiring is solid. thanks for the pics.

do you have a terminal cup on the box? take pics of the wiring at the amp and terminal cup.

Yeah, I already looked at that and there's literally only one place to plug in each wire from the sub.

But, I figured out the problem and now it's working fine. It was just a bad ground, so i fixed that and now it's perfect.
