Problem with Phoenix Gold RSD6.5cs

set your gains properly and crossover frequency on the amp to 80hz.
Those speakers should light up when amped. You have not properly set up your system and have either a clipped signal going on or your HPF isn't set up properly or even a combination of both. While you were at the shop you should have asked them to take a look at it and seen if they had any suggestions.

Yea, it sounds as if something else isn't right. I had a set installed in my Sierra and then took them out (working mind you) to put in the PG Elite6 comps. After 9 months I wanted to keep the Elites as a collectible so I put the RSDs back in and to my surprise, one of the tweets were dead. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I bought a set of Memphis PR-15 tweets and use them in their place. I also bought the PG RSD 3" mid and did a 3-way front end set up. Memphis tweet and the PG 3" mid on the Memphis xover and then High passed the set at 315Hz at 12 dB/oct getting 75 wrms off of chs 1 & 2 from a PG ZX450v2 and the RSD 6 1/2" mids are on chs 3 & 4 of the 450 set at 100 wrms from 315Hz at 12dB/oct to 63Hz at 12dB/oct. So they can play plenty low enough and can take the power quit well. I have no sound issues at all.

Yeah.. it seems as though everyone is having much better luck with their RSD's.

I did buy mine NEW from Sonic Electronics and Woofers Etc.

Bought a set of Components and also the matching coaxials.

I've been wondering, are these resellers pushing 2nd grade products, because I have quality issues with both.

One set came with one of the rubber surround starting to peel off, atleast a half inch of it was not seated or glued to the basket. I had to get some Aleene's glue to fix that myself since I did not want to have to wait and do the whole RMA thing which might have taken more time than for the glue to dry.

The other set came in with one of the surrounds depressed concaved and uneven. Like half of the surround was 1/4 inch high and the other half was closer to 1/8 inch high. If you ran your fingers around the surround, you could feel the variations of stress points where the surround was tighter in some areas than others. Is this normal?

This appears to be pretty crappy in terms of Quality Assurance from the factory, which leads me to believe that some of these online dealers are peddling factory seconds. I can't confirm this but from my recent experience, it sure looks that way.

A friend of mine, whom I recommended the RSD's to also ordered from another online retailer and his arrived with the similar type of issue with his surround.

What's the deal with these? A big concern of mine is.. this popping from the leftside 6.5 driver, sounds like bottoming out. The rightside driver does not do this. All this is happening at reasonable volumes? Is it blown or defective?
