Problem with my left channel

Its been getting really cold here and snowy for that matter. I turned my car on today and my left channel wasnt playing. When I cranked the volume it came back in and full tilt/ normal. If I leave it turned down for a bit sometimes it will cut out again. I have an old soundstream granite 110.2 on my highs and they are running off a passive crossover thats mounted on the cabin side of my door panels. Does this sound like an amp issue or like my wires are wet or something?

Just throwing my $0.02 out but, I had a similar problem, was a older Legacy Gold 800w amp. For some reason my right channel, which was on my left side (from driving position,) would cut out and sound all grumbled at my HU's turn on volume (10 of 39) but when it turned up to 17-25(full tilt for me at the time) she's crystal clear and smooth. It'd only had gain set at 1/3 (just below half anyway) and the subs I had at the time pounded (to me), but in my estimation these subs were only seeing 100w rms @2 ohm (which this amp wasn't old enough to be stable at so she'd get baby butt warm and never go into protect.) I'd make a turn or be in a curve on the e-way and the channel would start cuttin again. Sounding exactly the same as before only now it's cuttin in/out faster from vibration. I don't use this amp anymore but it definitely was an odd problem. Friend who's repaired amps, xbox360s, ps3s, wiis, etc. took a look at it and saw a mosfet was blown.

I've had plenty of amps do this. if you wanna keep that sweet ss amp , you need to unhook it and get it looked at , cuz one day its gonna decide not to play at all or worse it'll throw straight DC power to the speakers. my mtx 302 was doing it for months , one day i was riding and the right channel died , and smoke poured outta both right speakers.

OT: But why was your right channel on your left side when in driving position?

Why would it send a single tone signal??

For whatever reason at the time, I didn't care which side which channel was on so I just put speaker wires in +/- terminals and called it good. Had been this way since I hooked the amp up the first time.

DC is not a signal tone. DC is direct current , take a aa battery and wire it to a speaker , it doesnt make noise just pushes the coil up and holds it there steady. DC is the same as clipping , only its constant.

ac is alternating current. our power in the usa is 120volts @ 60 hz. so if you plug a sub in the wall it plays a seriously hardcore 60hz tone. dc doesnt do this , it pushes the cone out and keeps it there till the coil heats up and burns.

i hope its not my amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif i loves me baby granite. its also cold outside. ill have spooney look at it i guess. def an amp problem though?

could be a wire problem , hey i may not have that eq by the end of today. LAcrx is gonna hook me up with a pair of ED 12's , if that nga ever answers the pm's i sent. I'll let you know if it falls through , all the other stuff i mentioned is going nowhere though , just collecting dust in my closet.
