Problem with mids and hi's

I recently purchased my kappa perfect 6.1 mids and hi's and have hooked up two differnt amps to them. i hooked up an A600.2 art series amp to them and a McIntosh Mc420, i have just found out that both of these amps do not have crossovers in them, my local stereo shop said that i should just ebay both of these amps and go get a zapco from him obviously,

My first question is I wired each speaker to the back of the deck then ran the wire to the amp and ran my rca's from deck to amp. Ive heard differnt things from differnt people though, like each speaker has to be wired directly to the amp, is this true and the reason why my speakers dont get loud.

Second question, if i get a good crossover and my wiring is done right will this most likely correct the problem.

Third question is a lot of people have said these are good amps, will they work for what im trying to do or should i scrap them and which one would you use ?

yes those are some very good amps...and it would appear that you dont have the speakers connected to the amp at but merely to the HU...there should be speaker outputs on the amp that you should connect the left and right speakers too

as for the crossovers the speaker system should have come with two crossovers that should be installed in line like so

amp - crossover - mids, tweets

Regardless of whether or not they have crossovers included in their builds both of those are truly nice amps. eBay 'em if you're short on cash but otherwise, were it me and I had those and couldn't use them for my current setup I'd hang onto them for another time when I could. Of course the stereo shop guy is going to suggest you make a purchase from him to cure all your ills! That's simply being a salesman. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

If you are wanting to power the speakers with the output from the amp(s) then what people have been telling you is exactly right. The speakers cannot utilize the output from the amplifier if the speakers are not connected to the amplifier.

From what I am reading in your post I would say the lack of proper wiring is more than half your problem, friend. Not trying to bag on you, fella, simply stating fact.

As previously stated - both are good amps. If the lack of internal crossover presents a problem it can be easily solved by the introduction of an outboard crossover into your setup or the purchase of a head unit that has internal processing adequate for your needs.

I have an alpine 9855 which has a crossover unit in the deck its a little tricky to use but i have it set at 125 on the frequency with a 12db oct would that be sufficient or should i invest in a good outboard crossover ?
