I have a JL audio 1000x1 running 4 JL 10w3v2's and a JL 300x2 running my front Boston's. I also have a Monster 1 farad cap on the 1000x1. The problem is that the 1000x1 keeps shutting off due to low voltage (indicated by the low voltage LED on the amp) when I have it loud for a few minutes.
I have a 2002 BMW M3 with a 120 amp alternator, that was able to run a Zapco Z600 that drew up to 90 amps, with no problem. Does this amp just have a crappy power supply? I don't want to replace the alternator as that will void the warranty as far as electrical issues are concerned and my car has had too many problems already to risk voiding the warranty. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
