Problem I'm Stumped on

Ok so I have my System installed and My buddy (shop owner) and I are stumped on this Issue I am having. The system will play fine then all of a sudden act like the amp is going into protection mode. It will cut out and come back on quickly (not a thermal issue). It is getting plenty of current (14.4 when car is running does drop to 13.5 when a deep long bass note hits with no light dimming)and has no bad connections. The stumper is this, we put a battery charger on the battery after the amp was cutting in and out and played the system for over an hour with no issues (engine off). We worked on this for 2 freakin days and still could not find out wtf was going on. The Only thing I can think of is that the fuse is too small(80 amp AGU Soundstream recomends 125 for this amp) but I would think it would blow if it was drawing too much current. The amp works beautifully other than this and this is driving me nuts. Any help is appreciated.

my buddy had a ribachon (sp?) amp and it did the same thing, turns out that the port where you plug the rca cable into broke so we soldered it back in and it works like a charm now

Possible that the remote wire from the deck is loose or bad? might be causing the amp to turn off. Other than that, are the subs wired at to low of a load for the amp to handle? Might be over heating too. Check all that and see if it helps any.

Remote wire is good give about 13v when amp is on amp is rated at 400x1 at 2ohm, I am runing a ED 13Kv2 Dual 4 ohm vc wired in parallel and it reads exactly 2 ohms at the amp. no overheating issues either, sometimes the amp comes on and plays fine up to around 30-31 on the hu (where I have the gains set for, and yes I used test tones and a multimeter to set them 28.28 for the sub 14.14 for the comps) Other times it will switch on and off right when your turn on the car. I am beginning to think either one of 2 things now, an intermitant short to one of the speakers, or the protection circuit on the amp has a bad IC with intermitant issues. If anyone has any experience with the Soundstream Van Goghs your help would be greatly appreciated.
