Power Wire?

I don't think you'll notice the size difference very distinctly with your ears but if you let the amp play long enough, I think it may clip or shut itself down if the wire isn't sufficient for the power output. Maybe someone else can be of better help to you.

crutchfield.com has a current draw guide to help you figure out what size wire you need based on the size of your amps and the length of the wire needed.

but the rule is bigger is better

no sense in cutting down the current flow with smaller wire so id go with 4 awg or maybe even 2 awg

That amp's 1200 rms at 1 or 2 ohms right? If that's the case I'd personally go w/4. But if your power wire is 10 ft. or less I don't think 8ga will cause any problems. Make sure you fuse correctly at the battery.

I think you will be just fine to be honest. Id run it and check it after hammering on it quite a bit and check the temp on the wire by hand to see...

If you have multiple amps you do not need to run a power wire from each amp to battery.. You can have a single run of wire with a distribution...
