John Wilmont said it best....

"You will not like me. The gentlemen will be envious and the ladies will be repelled. You will not like me now and you will like me a good deal less as we go on."

Oh and....

"In my experience, those who do not like you fall into two categories: The stupid and the envious. The stupid will like you in five years time. The envious, never. "

Ok well I saw this forum and had to share my setup. I am new to the home audio scene and think this is a pretty darn good setup for the money.

YAMAHA RX-V459 RECIEVER

JAMO CONCERT E680 FLOOR STANDING SPEAKERS

SONY 5 DISC CD CHANGER

SONY DVD/VCR COMBO PLAYER

SONY XBR 27" TV- OLD SCHOOL BUT WORKS WELL

Updated pics. I'd call this v.1.2.

*Note* Pictures are all pretty poor because this is a north-facing room and has horrible light.

Here we have the Classe CP 47.5 preamp with NHT X1 sub x-over. The NHT is not plugged in since the Ark is not ready. It allows stereo subs with all balanced connections thoughout //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

This is the digital front end, still the Arcam Alpha 8se with Forte F-50 DAC.

Sounds awesome so far, once I get my equipment setup how I have it all envisioned I'll start on room treatment!

Does that outboard D/A converter support HDCD??

No, it was made in 1992. The Arcam does though and I have it's analog outs going into... Line2 of the preamp, so it's easy to enjoy it all!
Excellent. Glad to hear you get to enjoy HDCDs. So have you done any A/B comparisons with each converter with the same CD?? I would be curious which would sound better. I have an old Audio Alchemy D/A converter that I don't even use anymore.

I sure have. The Forte sounds better pretty much across the board but it has the unfair advantage of having balanced outputs whereas the Arcam only offers single ended. I believe the this is what allows the Forte to have a much lower noise floor and better top-to-bottom balance. The Arcam's DAC seems a little soft up top to me.

NICE NICE NICE....

I've been considering getting a CD Transport and a good D->A Converter....
