Post your grades.

I didnt say yours was bad or didnt count. I got pissed b/c he said my grades didnt count, and by relation what i was doing was pointless, and in all reality my degree was worthless. Kinda pissed me off.
I TRY not to knock other majors, but sometimes I can't help it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
You have a legitimate major though, your classes are no joke at all. All I am trying to get across to people is that you can't compare GPAs across all majors. It simply DOESN'T work...some are naturally harder than others, there is no way around it...

All of this started with my mickey mouse comment, it was meant as a joke, bu apparently some of you can't take a joke //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Right...but see much of my education does get put in a nice, neat category like "community service" or "SMART" programs, etc.
Most of it comes when a professor takes 2 or 3 of its better students and shows them the real ropes of stock trading, shows them the real math, shows them what's going on, takes them to luncheons with important members of governement, introduces them to contacts with the SEC.

But I don't get to categorize any of that. Not everything is so nice and neat. For students who show real dedication to what they are studying (not just getting an education, or learning about the subject), professors take them under their wing and get to do a whole lot more. Like sit in on a board meeting for a major variable annuity underwriter.
Well there you go. If you're good enough to be taken as one of the top 3 in your class to be given all of those privileges, then congrats. I applaud you, that's awesome. Exactly the point I'm trying to make; go above and beyond in your profession and don't rely on just your grades to do anything for you in life.

ah yes, I understand. Your point is valid. Allstar fegolicous's is not however. He said that if your not an engineer or a scientist your grades dont count.

My g/f makes straight A's in her education classes, and spend 1/2 the time on her stuff as I do. a very good illustration of your point

I wasn't comparing GPAs. I was against saying "Well, I have a social life" as an excuse for not having one. When you feel bad about your GPA, then mention partying, it doesn't look good to me.

Like I said, I did get a B. I tried my best, but just wasn't smart enough to get an A. It wasn't because I was partying.

Well, I guess you should have chosen a degree like engineering that pays less.
If you choose your major for money then you have other issues....
IDK why you got so pissed Flip //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I was only trying to explain the point that other majors and other institutions are naturally more difficult. Its unfair to compare them by knocking others for not having better grades...what you said was a slap in the face. That I don't care enough...

My sarcasm seemed to go above you, like usual. Engineering and science majors are more difficult than most majors, but if you take that as your major doesn't count and you're going to fail at life, then that's on you.

My g/f makes straight A's in her education classes, and spend 1/2 the time on her stuff as I do. a very good illustration of your point
My point exactly.

No offense, but what do you do with a degree in forestry? I know a guy with a MS in Animal Wildlife or something like that and he burns down trees for the state.
Harvesting timber from pine plantations is a major part of economies in southern states such as MS, AL, and GA.

Someone has to manage those plantations..Thats where foresters come in..

I don't want to be a forester..But I choose forestry with a wildlife management option so if I do not want to continue on to my masters in Wildlife Science (as I plan) I can still obtain a job easily. Cannot do much with just a bachelors in wildlife science.

If I do obtain my masters..I will be a certified forester AND wildlife biologist.. Thus broadening my job opportunities..

The bad thing is in MS the pay is absolutely ridiculous for both foresters and wildlife biologists..With a masters in wildlife science I would start out making something like $36,000 a year..I can start out at $50,000 in some states..

I could have easily majored in engineering, pharmacy, etc. and have the potential to make loads more money over my lifetime..But I'd a lot rather be doing something I love, and actually look forward to work every day...

Like you just said to deerhunt?
Pot. Kettle. Black.
nein, My statement was a general observation of the RTM classes here. It appears that his school is based on that, and that his courses are different.

I didnt make a sweeping statement that generalized every major on earth that wasnt an engineering or science major didnt count.

There is a difference in a qualified opinion based on personal experience and a hasty generalization.

Unless you're a science or engineering major, you can't brag about good grades //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
see no sarcasm there , and until i called you on it, you made no indication it was sarcastic, if it was sarcastic then ok.

"All generalizations are generally wrong"

One of my best buddies is a forestry engineer, and he will be working for the BLM in Eugene, OR.

Interesting where this thread shot off too lol. Honestly my grades don't compare to half of you guys and I only worked maybe 20 hours a week on average part time and then about 80 hours a week with school but managed only a 3.0 mostly due to calc kicking my butt. However graduated last august right on track no problem with good relations with professors and a job that was already set up for me 8 months prior and just was told they were giving me a raise, I've only been with the company full time since september so my work must speak for itself.

It can be easy to pick on other majors but ya gotta respect the time and effort these guys are putting in to get their degree no matter what it is. Just because your getting a degree in basket weaving doesn't mean you shouldn't try to be the best darn basket weaver out there, and for that you should get respect just by being the best in your field. Oh and I do civil engineering sometimes seems hard but I'm not gonna say its tougher then others cause I sure as hell know I wouldn't wanna be a comp sci major or something.

Very true, I was a little unspecific about partying though...more like hanging out with friends...quite honestly I hardly every drink anymore, left that my freshman year //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I understand what you mean, I probably could have pulled a B in physics but the quarterly system really is something else. If you get sick or something along that nature, you really suffer for it. Sometimes its overwhelming and you need to take a step back and breathe, sometimes that means loosing a letter grade to keep your sanity //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
