Post your grades.

I am quite surprised that this many forum members have the intellectual capability as they do..
I guess mainly because of the junk that goes on in The Lounge..
I think its do to the poor spelling/grammar/sentance structure many of us take when not trying to articulate our thoughts well.

If you choose your major for money then you have other issues....
IDK why you got so pissed Flip //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I was only trying to explain the point that other majors and other institutions are naturally more difficult. Its unfair to compare them by knocking others for not having better grades...what you said was a slap in the face. That I don't care enough...
I wasn't pissed. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I oftentimes hear other students try to validate their GPAs by saying..."Well, I have a social life" or "I contribute to the community" etc.

All those are great things. They provide valuable networking experience and sometimes (in my case) to learn the difference between textbook finance and Wall Street finance. Very important things.

But if GPA isn't that important to you, then why do you (not you specifically, but people) try to 'make up for it' by listing their other contributions. For instance, participating in on-campus events has always been the least of my priorities. I was a junior before I went into the student union building. I just didn't (and still don't) care about those things. But I never try to justify my not caring by saying, "well I spent my time in the classroom, at work, jacking off, etc". I don't try to justify my lack of partying in a similar fashion. Yeah, I am the jackass that sits in the computer lab on Friday nights working on building models while all the other kids are sleeping around or doing whatever people do at parties. I don't feel bad on what I let slide. You shouldn't feel you should have to justify your GPA if it isn't that important to you.

nein, My statement was a general observation of the RTM classes here. It appears that his school is based on that, and that his courses are different.
I didnt make a sweeping statement that generalized every major on earth that wasnt an engineering or science major didnt count.

There is a difference in a qualified opinion based on personal experience and a hasty generalization.
I agree, and I too have opinions based on personal experience and of experience of those close to me. Poking fun at people's majors is one of the things that is commonplace in my group of friends and fraternity brothers.
see no sarcasm there , and until i called you on it, you made no indication it was sarcastic, if it was sarcastic then ok.
"All generalizations are generally wrong"

Interesting where this thread shot off too lol. Honestly my grades don't compare to half of you guys and I only worked maybe 20 hours a week on average part time and then about 80 hours a week with school but managed only a 3.0 mostly due to calc kicking my butt. However graduated last august right on track no problem with good relations with professors and a job that was already set up for me 8 months prior and just was told they were giving me a raise, I've only been with the company full time since september so my work must speak for itself.

It can be easy to pick on other majors but ya gotta respect the time and effort these guys are putting in to get their degree no matter what it is. Just because your getting a degree in basket weaving doesn't mean you shouldn't try to be the best darn basket weaver out there, and for that you should get respect just by being the best in your field. Oh and I do civil engineering sometimes seems hard but I'm not gonna say its tougher then others cause I sure as hell know I wouldn't wanna be a comp sci major or something.
Yup, I am in your shoes now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Calc 4 kicked my *** lol...
Civil is no joke either though, I actually have to take a few CE courses as well...they are all interrelated.

I too enjoy the occasional joke at the expense of the "sports medicine" majors and the education majors, although our school supposedly has the best school for teaching in 4-5 states ( the thought of that scares the living hell out of me b/c those classes are such a joke )

I just take it personally when somebody says they are better than me b/c there major makes them do stupid shit like memorize random plant names lol

Sweet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Very true, I was a little unspecific about partying though...more like hanging out with friends...quite honestly I hardly every drink anymore, left that my freshman year //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I understand what you mean, I probably could have pulled a B in physics but the quarterly system really is something else. If you get sick or something along that nature, you really suffer for it. Sometimes its overwhelming and you need to take a step back and breathe, sometimes that means loosing a letter grade to keep your sanity //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
I'll admit that getting sick could kick your ***. My classes are all night classes, so they jam 1 week of material in a night. Miss one night and you miss quite a bit.

I think every major does that. The finance and econ people do it to marketing and "business administration majors". But I still think business administration is a lame major for people unwilling to commit to something real.

Then the math and statistics people do it to us. I guess in person, it's easy to understand the comments are in jest.

Thanks Flip, I see what you mean now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Guess I was giving excuses hehe...now that I think about it though, my family and friends are the most important thing in my life. GPA comes third, behind my hobby and passions. Rather keep my sanity than a 4.0

Touché sir!

Truth, seems like everyone of my Admin classes is full of a bunch of idiots. Which helps me out b/c I can skip a days class and only miss 20 minutes worth of reading lol

It's all good.

If you think I am crazy, you ought to see some of the PhD students who lost their 4.0s to econometrics II (which I am not taking). It was crazy, this Asian chick just fell out in the hall crying and such. People are spending time with her to make sure she doesn't kill herself. But that's a very isolated incident.

So we all can agree that business admin is a wasted degree.

Not to make generalizations, but a lot of Asians are like that, just because of the pressure they feel from their parents...
My friend was the same way, she nearly started crying in class when she got an 87 on her chemistry midterm...

So we all can agree that business admin is a wasted degree.

Yup, I think we do have a universal correlation with idiots and Business degrees...though there are always exceptions...
