if socialized medicine is SO BAD how come it is good enough for our VETERANS?
enough is enough.... stop buying in to the political banter here.... this should not be about democrats and republicans.... THIS IS ABOUT AMERICANS. the current system is VERY PROFITABLE and there are many that don't want it to change-- they will feed you with a bunch of doom and gloom. health insurance companies are making record profits off of other peoples suffering-- if that does not bother you something is wrong. this country needs health care- will it be perfect? NO, but it will be better than the crap that has been allowed to go on under our crooked gov't- left or right ( your senators and congressman have been screwing your eyeballs out while they have you distracted with things like abortion and gun rights ). don't give me the whole freedom of choice bit either.... the only real freedom you have in this country anymore is-- Pepsi or Coke.

you want real change in this country? TRY VOTING OUT THE INCUMBENT EVERY TIME YOU VOTE. change will not happen according to who you vote for president every 4 years. where your vote matters is your senators and congressman. you want to blame someone-- blame them and vote them out.

THINK ABOUT IT.
Record profits? Who cares? Its a BUSINESS. THE IDEA IS PROFIT.

Its a good/service, just like buying a car then taking it to a mechanic. They are private companies competing in a free market to sell their product/service. Yeah, peoples lives depend on it, but why should the government run it? Its a fucking business.

People think just because its healthcare it should be above the free market. In the end its a service/good and is best left to be traded/bought/sold in a free market. If companies are competing for business, that drives price down. If the government takes over, theres no competition, and price goes up.

It doesnt work for any country that has it, why do people think it will work for us?

Yes, Im serious, and YES IM MAD!!!!!!!

cleveland clinic puts people in taxis and sends them elsewhere to receive treatment when they don't cover the patient's needed care.
this is not the only hospital that does this. so if you define "coverage" as cleaning wounds, buying a taxi, and shipping off to another hospital then yeah everyone gets care.
but they do get treated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Who's responsibility is it that they get care? I'd suspect it is the individual requiring it.

How to fix it:
Fix the tort system to prevent frivolous lawsuits against doctors. Doctors' malpractice insurance premiums drop. Your healthcare costs drop.

Oh, and quit paying for healthcare for illegals. I think if I went to Canada and demanded treatment, they'd laugh in my face and tell me to gtfo.
I doubt it, I work in a hospital and the amount of lawsuits against docs is either right on or less than there should be. Hipaa prevents me from speaking further on this, but malpractice happens way more than you think. at least in 1% of healthcare, and when you add up all the patients and hospitals across the country that's alot of people screwed over

About your taxi example. Suppose I get in a wreck on the way home. In my wallet, I have what hospitals I can go to and what hospitals I cannot. I know what hospitals are in network and which are not. When I went to your town, I had to find out what hospitals I can go to and which I can't. I don't see anything wrong with this...

lel. A clinic is not an emergency room. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
you obviously have never heard of cleveland clinic, one of the largest and most heavily funded hospitals in the US

I see what you are saying, but a better system for the patient would be if the patient could still go to that hospital (especially if its an emergency care situation), have everything done in that same hospital, and have the hospital that provides care bill your network.

But as I stated before, I don't know what the solution is, but I don't like the current one nor do I like the idea of socialized medicine.

the one thing I DO think should be socialized is physicals. I think preventative and proactive care would cut a lot of the ailments that end up becoming serious and then denied. So many cancer patients that are denied treatment deemed "experimental" (I work in a cancer hospital, first thing that comes to mind) when if they have yearly or even once every 2 year checkups the disease would be discovered fast enough to treat it much easier (if possible to treat).

I think veterans just want health care because so many have been ****ed out of it. I was talking to a guy at my apartment the other day who lost 3 fingers and has to walk with a cain due to an ambush in Iraq and he received no benefits after he was discharged from the marines. He literally had to sue the military just to get the money they owed him.
