Ported vs sealed

Well it's not much of a vs thread just trying to get some info/input. My current setup is 2 18 lvl 5's on a 5k they sound good but I'm looking for better quality but the same output. I was thinking of 4 18 obsidens in a sealed enclosure of 21 cubes before displacement of drivers, would the obsidens be able to play low in an enclosure like that I'm looking for nice bandwidth 28hz-38hz which I can't seem to get outta the lvl 5's they like to be peaky and more spl oriented. The other idea was 9 12's alpine type r's(only reason for type r's is because my buddy owns a shop that deals alpine and he has an online store where I can get them for around 100$ a piece) those I would be purchasing a dc10k for. I'm still trying to stay in the 52-53+ on music but have more sq and input info would be appreciated

Ported = free output. Just hunt for some subs that have a wider bandwidth ported. LV5 is really not the right platform for your goals. I really like the idea of a dozen 12" type R. They're a good buy at 100$ a pop IMO.

So would you recommend doing the 9 12 alpines on 10k or you really think I should fine diffrent drivers as in? To run ported

4 15's ported would do the job, just get better sounding subs. lvl5's aren't the best sounding for music, but they do get loud...

If you can get R for 100$ I don't think you'll find more woofer for the money elsewhere. You'd best to run the specs in some modeling software and confirm they have a decent bandwidth ported before you commit.
