Porsche Boxster Build Q1 - Installer Experience?

I recently acquired a 2003 Porsche Boxster and am in Phase One of customization - AUDIO.

The most important phase for obvious reasons, I'm lookin' to do it right and once. I've a series of topics and questions in my head but those will be addressed individually if I can't find relatively recent answers via Search.

Right now, though, I'm hoping to find and hear from a few guys who've been bent and twisted all up in one and who've come away wiser for the experience. Your initial plan, any deviations necessary once the build was underway, problem areas... anything you think is relevant to a job well done in this audio penalty box of an automobile.

Some basics:

- This will be a purely selfish SQ build - I don't compete.

- The build will be done by a trusted local shop.

- The entire Porsche factory system will be removed

- I will be using my now classic Fujitsu Ten Eclipse 8454 HU with an iPod as source

- I plan on installing a (yet to be determined) three-way, active system in the factory speaker

locations with all new wiring

- A CDT QES-820 sub will go in a custom box in the passenger footwell

- In the front trunk, an Audison Bit One will feed a Zed Leviathan for the three-ways and a Zed

Minilith for the sub

We may have already talked about this, but I would probably use the factory dash speaker structures as a template and make a new baffle for a mid and tweeter. You can either use 1 amplifier channel per side with passive crossovers to divide the power, or use active crossovers and power each driver individually. Bitone has enough channels to do that along with your door woofers and the subwoofer all with active control on each driver.

What comes out of the car I want to keep in good nick so it can go back in someday when/if I sell it. So... I plan on buying new dash speaker grills and hopefully what I have in mind will fit underneath them. I'd rather not buy multiple sets of drivers, go with what fits and then return the rest.
