Hey guys,
So I'm brand new here to the forums here but I've been wanting to upgrade my system in my truck since I'd received an amp and pair of subs from my dad and I've been trying to research it and thought I had it almost figured out but the whole thing is honestly frying my brain with all the info I'm taking in so I'm just looking for some advice on which is the best setup and best way to go.
Basically the story is I have an amp and a sub in there right now but we put them in years ago, probably 5 or 6 at least, and off the top of my head, I don't remember what they are but they're kind of irrelevant now. Then my dad got some parts out of a car (he works at a shop so they'll get repo'd cars or wrecked cars etc) so I was like lets put those in, replace my blown speakers and put a double-din in just for fun and not have to pay a ton of money. I dusted off the components he gave me and it turns out I have an Xtant 404M amp which I understand is a pretty high quality amp, and a pair of Rockford Fosgate Punch XLC 10" subs in a slightly roughed up box that'll fit perfect in my tiny half backseat. Well then one of my friends was like have these which turned out to be a Rockford 800.A2 amp and a Kicker Comp C12 sub in a ported box, he's not sure if either of them work but cosmetically they're in better shape than the others.
Should I stick with the XLC's over the one C12? And then I was thinking the 404m over the 800.A2 because the 800 will blow those subs wouldn't it? On the other hand, I also want to put some decent speakers in there, and my friend had mentioned running the speakers off the amp as well? Because with the 404m and the dual XLC's, I'd have to run the speakers off the headunit, right? I was thinking just some 6 1/2's in the doors for right now and not worry about the rear speakers at this point and wanted to stay under $100 for a pair, so I was recommended the Kicker 40CS54's but I wasn't sure if I should shoot for the 40CS654's?
