I'd just tear apart the old box and move the internal wall shrinking the sealed to 4 and making the ported 12 and retune to 47hz if you don't like it build a ported box if you do rebuild it a little nicer reused boxes are usually very ugly.

well i get free sheets of material from work. would 4 total sealed and 8 ported work good? I was thinking adjustable ports so i can test out tuning. will 47 hz still give me good lows into the low 30's and high 20's?
Dude. You made a box and failed. Buy more wood, try something different. My advice would be to pay a professional for a design, and avoid bandpass if you don't have a lot of time and wood to spare and a really good reason to even bother.
just went down to a shop and got metered and did a 142 on music at 42 hz idk if that is good or not but they said i would get much better results if i did a 2:1
