pioneer whine

I guess what I was referring to is that the only people I've heard of having problems with this are guys on this forum. I know 2 Pioneer installers 1 in MI and 1 in IN and they have never had a head unit come back that they or their customers have installed. I can't believe there are that many on here that can't install a head unit. I know there are guys on here that know what they're doing but you can't ignore there are also a lot of NOVICES on here that shouldn't be self-installing anything.
The question is, why is Pioneer the only company having that issue on this forum? Is the pico just that easy to blow? Do other HU's not have a little pico fuse and therefore there's no way to have the same issue? I'm honestly curious...

I'll be the first to admit that I haven't done a ton of HU installs, as I have only changed HU's maybe 2-3 times in 6 years and find no reason to change any time soon as I am very happy with my 8053...but I never had an issue with the Eclipse units that I did myself.

You’re kind of asking the same thing I was asking and I have not gotten an answer yet in my original post I said I knew about the pico fuses and that I did not want to rig my stuff with pieces of wire. My unit had three sets of RCAs out and that was all that was used. There is no chance of damage to the HU the way I install anything is with power off to everything and I have been installing since the early 80s. I would think that pioneer would have come up with a suitable solution to there obviously poor build of these units by now. You know what bugs me the most is when I see some kid do everything wrong on an install of a HU and it still does not break anything because it was not a junk pioneer.

Can I do that same figure 8 trick on my amp? Sorry to thread jack, but I switched amps and got the engine whine...
What amp? Usually on amps I have found noises are inducted from bad RCAs or the routing of the RCAs sometimes that kind of noise is called cross talk. But if you can hear a change in the noise that goes with the rpm of your engine then try moving your cables to another location. I just don’t like to rig stuff with pieces of wire but it may be that simple in some cases I guess. Hope one of these things works for you.

Pioneer put that fuse in to protect the head unit. Bottom line, what causes this is an insufficient ground at the amplifier. If the ground at the amp isn't a good one then electricity travels the path of least resistance and blows the fuse instead of frying the head unit. Therefore, as I said before it is installer error, not with the deck but a piss poor ground on the amp. OR switching RCAs around with the unit powered up.

I would bet you have a bad ground somewhere in your system. I have a pico fuse in my decks and have had NO problems.

He's basically making an inductor using the shielded gnd of the rcs...once again people what does and inductor do? Filters ac ripple...pioneer is very common for rca noise, I have had it speradically through the yrs and model lines...from the old dehp units to d series to now. It happens.
