i picked up a pioneer deh-p3900mp off of my pile of old HUs this afternoon. i hooked it up turned it on played with it for a few then started the engine thats when it started that damm pioneer whine. i heard this many times from pioneer HUs. everybody claims pico fuses but if it were a fuss causing the whine why do they only do it with the engine runing? i pulled it back out because i dont want to rig the RCAs

Why is it so many people have issues with whine on their decks.?? Are you using the factory ground or did you find a different location.?? I've owned a lot of Pioneer decks in the past 15 years and NEVER had a problem. Eclipse, Alpine and Denon head units have given me a lot of problems as far as this is concerned. What I did with those head units is ground them in the trunk in the same spot I grounded my amps and it always fixed the problem.

Fixed that pioneer whine chit real good tonight I took it out in my driveway put the face plate back on it then drove over it with my backhoe. I will never even think about owning another piece of pioneer junk cause it wont happen. Thanks pioneer.

well since this such a comon problem with pioneer i was wondering if somone has tried a condencer or some other type of filter to fix pioneers junk?

if you strip 8" of speaker wire 16 awg , take all the jacket off

then do a figure 8 around the rca outs in the back of the unit

then terminate the wire at a bolt in the back of the unit

the noise will go away

I had the same problem with my 880prs, as did tons of people...never had a single issue with any of my other HU's. I'm back to my 8053 and will keep using older Eclipse 8V units for as long as I can.

I guess what I was referring to is that the only people I've heard of having problems with this are guys on this forum. I know 2 Pioneer installers 1 in MI and 1 in IN and they have never had a head unit come back that they or their customers have installed. I can't believe there are that many on here that can't install a head unit. I know there are guys on here that know what they're doing but you can't ignore there are also a lot of NOVICES on here that shouldn't be self-installing anything.
