Pioneer DEH-P9600MP

lookin into gettin this head unit? ne1 kno if its ne good?

i would personally look into the 8600 instead. it has all the same stuff as the 9600 except the dual display. pioneer had problems with the that display, plus in my opinion i don't believe it is worth the extra money for the display. the 8600 has plenty of features and an excellent display.

I wouldnt get either the 8600 or 9600 wait till january the new *700 series will be hitting the shelves and they look good, many of the higher end ones are 04 premier models, but the lower end models have taken a bit of a cut on some features. 7700 and up though are awesome.

may i ask how you know this?

i'd love to see the new 970 if they make it(they never made a 950 so i'm still skeptical)

well the 1700, 2700 and new DEHP-80MP (the old Premier 8MP) have already hit the stock shelves at the wholesaler where I work, and the rest are on their way.

I agree with the consensus. If you HAVE to do one of those decks, get the 8600 over the 9600. Pioneer's had an issue with those dual display motorized units since the 8500, and never did completely fix it.

besides the preouts, how is the 8600 different from the 860??
look at the site, i can't remember them, but there are a couple things you can adjust a little more thoroughly on the 860 than the 8600 iirc, they aren't major things, but seeing how you can get them for about the same price on ebay i think it's worth it to get the 860
