Ok I just joined forum, hope you guys can help:
I have a 2006 jeep Commander with factory nav. I bought the double din pioneer above. I have three wire that I can't figure out where they go.
First, I can't find the PCM in my vehicle. I was told I need to get to the green/ black connector. And get to the Green/ White wire. VSS....I was told it's not necessary but helps if you lose the gps signal and it calculates from your last spot where you started.
Next is the parking brake switch wire. Dark Green/white, I was told it not only prevents nav or DVD being used while in motion but " some of the menu settings are grayed out unless the brake wire is connected, also the advanced nav like address entry does require a signal on the parking brake as well"
So is that absolutely required? Also I assume he means the emergency brake? If so I need to rip out the console to get to it.
Lastly I need 12 volts from fuse box for ACC. I found an empty fuse spot under hood. It read 13 volts.
Also is it difficult to get from the nav/ stereo location to under the hood? As you can tell I'm a newbie
Thanks guys
