Picked out my new car, and should be buying on Monday!

Small SUV's are fun. Safer than cars, big enough for a nice system and to sit comfortably in it, and you can still park in "normal" parking spots. They are also way better at offroading than any full-size truck.

Having said that, i'd recommend against purchasing a Ford Exploder. They are straight up pieces of shit.

For that same price, i would personally get a Toyota 4runner, Nissan Pathfinder, Infiniti QX4, even Subaru. Same price range but the reliability is off the charts when compared to any Ford vehicles.

Its your choice, but get ready for lame *** repairs if you buy the Exploder.

And good luck trying to get 20 mpg. More like 12-16. That thread you guys posted is hilarious - so the trick to 32 mpg is several quotes of wax, fresh fluids, and slow driving. YEAH RIGHT!

Safer than cars, probably. Humm, maybe that is due to size? Just food for thought.

Who off roads an SUV? Is that a joke or something? Most off road vehichles are trucks, only a few SUV's off road and you usually have to mod them to hell and back to do well.

Oh christ, here we go with if you don't go import it won't last for shit. I don't care who you are, it's all about how well you take care of your car. Simple as that. I was a one owner of a cavalier, which I bought new in 99 and had over 100k in 2 years because I drove the shit out of it for work and what not. Sold it to a buddy and has well over 200k on it and looks like it does the day it rolled off the lot. We both pick out our cars. Yeah it is a cavy, but very clean and well taken care of. No major problems have ever occured with the car. Still on factory trany, which is a 5 speed and clutch has never been replaced, lol! So..................

Also if anything happend to a import compared to domestic, parts are cheaper on the domestic..........most times.

I'm sorry to hear that! What a waste of time!
Sorry to hear what?

I have owned many cars, trucks. It was a good car as most of my cars have been.

Well my Nissan 300zx twin turbos I had didn't last to long, but was young and dumb and constantly raced it, plus was like the 4th owner. Twas a fast car though.

I tend to buy brand new now and have been that way for awhile.

I would have gotten a 4runner or Pathfinder as well.
im pretty sure those are atleast a few thousand more with the same options/mileage. They are proud of those **** things, i found that out when i was looking for a mid sized suv.

People are saying 105k is high miles.. Then I got and looks at the Pathfinders and 4runners, and you can't touch one with under 100k in my price range.. Not even a couple thousand outside my price range.

Thanks for the link BTW.

Am I correct in guessing mom and dad are paying for your gas? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Well currently they pay for gas and insurance, but I have to start paying the difference in insurance, and if gas starts costing a lot more I have to pay for that too.

I do put gas in when I am out though (with my own money //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif)

Shit double post...

Getting it checked out is a good thing to do, as since these were the first year some do have problems. I havent had anything but minimal things on mine, and its got just under 70K now, been a good truck so far, hope it stays that way.

I wil say that the v8 model (4.6) gets better gas mileage ( i know sounds wierd but the engine works less to get it moving, and if you keep your foot out of it will get 17-18, some people have gotten 20 out of the 4.6) and is a better drivetrain all around to be honest. Just //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

When I saw it I thought it was nice and was hoping the V6's got a bit better mileage, if you could squeeze 20-23mpg out of it then it would be worth it to me but getting 15 you might as well get an expedition they get about 12-13

That will never happen.

Also I would check it has not been in an accident more than just bumping into a post or something, to me cracked plastic usually means a real accident which is what I am willing to bet it has been in.

Think about it you would need to hit a column at about 30mph to crack the plastic inside //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
