PC Gamers Only: Others Need Not Apply

Listen to this story.... I just fried my second set of Crucial Ballistix 2x1GB PC2 8500

I ordered from newegg 1 year ago, and I submitted an RMA. Turns out they don't carry the set for replacement, and newegg is giving me a full refund!!

I paid $356.00 a year ago, I'll get the credit back on my card. ..and get this...

Newegg has GKskill 2x2GB (4GB) PC2 8000 for $149.00

Intel pwns right now. C2D is preffered platform of PC gamers, bar none.
Also, little clip here:

"This means that 3.2 GHZ, FSB 1600 Yorkfield might be the fastest Intel for almost three quarters. We are sure that with its 45 nanometer process Intel should be able to get a bit higher numer, as Fudzilla's Eliot managed to overclock this marchitecture with massive air cooling all the way up to 4.3GHz. At the same time, we are sure that he went over the TDP top."

The new Penryn Q6850 will do 4.0+ GHz on air cooling, holy shit batman!

Yeah, because we all know that clock speed is all that matters //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

To me, 16 GB of memory + 4 GPU's @ the full x16 > Intel. I don't care how the Nvidia cards are faster, blah blah blah. If you read any, the HD Radeons are better at supporting HD content and higher resolutions. 4 of them would be plain retarded. Nothing like being able to game on a Plasma or DLP set.

When this hits, AMD will be > Intel for gaming.

/thread.

P.S. Good going on the refund from NE. 4 gb > 2 gb, even if you lose a tiny bit of throughput from it. You sure your mobo will recognize 4 gb in two slots? I know some don't......

oh ya, those gskill's can OC'd to over 1066MHz with 2.1v. Did some research, so basically they will run same speed as the ballistix!

My mobo is 680i, and I'm running Vista x64, so no problem on the 4GB RAM, perf.

P.S. Any you guys playing Call of Duty 4? That game is awesome!

I'v been waiting for quite some time for the Phenom to drop. With the wave of reviews the past couple days, I'm a little disappointed with it compared to the Core 2 Quads, but the difference isn't really that much. I see it as a good thing, really.... AMD will sell them cheap and intel will have to keep their pricing competitive. Cheap quad cores ftw!

I'll be selling my Opteron 170 7800GT SLI system within the next couple months and build myself a uATX system around the socket AM2 platform.

As far as the Spider.... yeah. 8 gpus would rule.

dayumn I have been out of this for far too long now it seems lol. What other comp forums do you guys check out? Mine is definitly due for an upgrade its going on 2 years old now, haven't played many computer games in a few years used to but not lately, last "graphics" entense game I was playing was WoW and HL 2 yea I know lol. Maybe I'll wait another year or so and jump on this new stuff. I've never built a killer comp before though never more than $600 spent on parts (newegg.com FTW) but I would love to build an SLI machine. I've only owned AMD and Nvidia products, they have always performed flawlessly and the radion cards I have tried always had bugs, not sure why though just my luck. Oh and I've been running Win 2k Pro for the past 5 years or so I think lol, but it has yet to give me any issues. Currently running a AMD 64 2.4ghz (I think) Venice core, with 2GB of ram and XFX 6600GTS on an el cheapo AsRock mobo //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif but I do have 1.35TB of storage lol.

what do all of you guys think about alienware? I've heard from peope that they are the best performance PC's but are also the most pricy. Is the $ for them worth it??

yea. i have to run cod4 @ 800x600 with settings **** near rock bottom.
****in amd64@2.6ghz, 1gb crucial, 6600gt, 120gb sata1, and some abit mobo.

bleh.
Dang thats pretty much my pc, but only with a 6800GTS and 2gb of patriot ram, guess I'll have to wait to try out Cod4

They do seem to preform pretty good, but the money is killer. http://www.newegg.com is your best friend, read up a bit order some stuff and with a screw driver and some patience and you will have a machine that will outpreform a alienware for half the price.
