PC Gamers Only: Others Need Not Apply

A friend on my other forum has this for a computer.. (his signature)

-Gigabyte GA_P35_DS3P| -Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 @3.2| -Nvidia 8800GTX-4GB Geil PC6400 |-1x SATA Segate 500GB| -2x SATA Maxtor Diamond 9 80GB|

-Vista 64bit |Want tips overclocking? PM me!
On that, he will get about 60+ FPS. SINGLE 8800GTX.

Thats not dying.

Not if you want to play Crysis or any of the other new, graphically-intense DX 10 games at max settings ...
I have an 8800 GTS 640 MB and it freaking dies on Crysis ...

Sounds like you have a bottle neck somewhere. Post the rest of your computer specs.

What size monitor/tv are you playing on, 1920x1080? Indeed nice pc, ever tried sli-8800gts on that thing? Too bad I quit pc games, until SC2 comes out at least or I'd give it a try. I'm sure my 8600gts can't handle it at all anyways.

I haven't looked much into AMD's technology lately but it still looks like Intel has the lead over them in that category. The next-gen dual-cores that Intel has in store for us are what I'm looking forward to seeing.

I mean, AMD's next-gen Phenom is around 13% slower than Intel's current-gen QX6600 proc, from what i'm seeing on websites that have already benchmarked it. Imagine how bad Intel's gonna wipe the floor w/ them once their Penryn line of CPU's are available.

IMO, if you need the absolute best for gaming and have some patience, save up your cash and build an Intel rig once their Penryn CPU's take off. I just hope pricing is just right on them. Intel's pricing vs. performance ratio used to turn me off all the time.

Id be willing to bet anything if you swapped an AMD chip for its Intel equivalent (or vice versa), you will notice no difference....

and Jmac i think any video card is gonna choke on that resolution, also sounds like your cpu might be the bottleneck, i know mine is for sure on my system...

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 3.2 GHz2 GB of PC2-8500

XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB

Seagate 320 GB SATA2 HDD

Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

Playing @ 1920 x 1080 at high settings kills it on Crysis (Usually between 20-40 fps) ...

Since you have Vista x64, I recommend upgrading to 4GB RAM.

btw, Crysis DX10 sucks balls right now, their working with M$ & Nvidia to increase performance though in a soon to come patch.

And CoD4 owns all right now. Game of the year!

Had a p4 a lonng time ago when they were still big and all... then went with AMD on my last 3 builds, more power for the money....and now, yep, stickin with AMD again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Intel pwns right now. C2D is preffered platform of PC gamers, bar none.

Also, little clip here:

"This means that 3.2 GHZ, FSB 1600 Yorkfield might be the fastest Intel for almost three quarters. We are sure that with its 45 nanometer process Intel should be able to get a bit higher numer, as Fudzilla's Eliot managed to overclock this marchitecture with massive air cooling all the way up to 4.3GHz. At the same time, we are sure that he went over the TDP top."

The new Penryn Q6850 will do 4.0+ GHz on air cooling, holy shit batman!
